Original 1950s European Men's PVC Jacket - Size 38

A nice original men's dark green coloured PVC jacket which was made in Holland or Germany during the 1950s.  PVC jackets were a popular choice in the early post-war period due to the fact that they were cheaper to buy than leather jackets and offered excellent waterproof qualities. This example hails from northern Europe and has typical details associated with clothing produced in that region. The jacket is made from polyvinyl chloride fabric garments, better known today as 'PVC'. It appears that it originally had a zip which has been removed, most likely when it broke. The original owner has then added buttons and hand stitched leather loops onto the jacket. The jacket features a round collar which is faced with suede which contrasts nicely against the dark green coloured PVC material. Angled zip pockets are located to the chest which fasten with 'Kin' branded zippers which work well. Slash pockets are located to the skirt whilst epaulettes are fitted at the shoulder and straps are located to the cuff - all of which fasten with buttons. The rear of the jacket features a section of elastic which creates a half belt effect. To either end of this are straps which can be adjusted with metal adjusters which are typical of the era in design.  The jacket will suit around a 38" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat it measures -  Chest - 23" Inside arm - 18 1/2" Outside arm - 25 1/2" Shoulders - 18 1/2" Length at rear - 28 1/2" The jacket is in good condition overall and displays well. It is totally wearable with no serious flaws or damage but does have some limited signs of wear and age. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small issues commensurate with age.  A great piece of mid-Century outerwear with some excellent period details.
