Rowan University is a public institution that was founded in 1923. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 15,264 (fall 2022), its setting is suburban, and the campus size is 920 acres. It utilizes a semester-based academic calendar. Rowan University's ranking in the 2024 edition of Best Colleges is National Universities, #163. Its in-state tuition and fees are $15,700; out-of-state tuition and fees are $25,564. Rowan University started out as a teacher preparation college and is now a leading research institution for eco-friendly initiatives. Since 2007, the school has received at least 13 awards for green initiatives. It also offers a range of degree options for undergraduate and graduate students. Students study a host of subjects, such as whether blood tests can reveal Alzheimer’s and how to improve the safety of lithium-ion batteries. The school also promotes diversity in science, technology, engineering and math. Freshmen and sophomores are required to live on campus unless they can commute from a nearby guardian’s home, and many upperclassmen live off campus.
